HARRIS CAMP – SELF CATERING

Besides Leadwood Lodge which is tucked away on a corner of the farm, HARRIS CAMP is the only accommodation presently available thus ensuring you of an exclusive, private and well deserved break.

Harris camp has a special magic to it. With no electricity this camp takes you back to days gone by where facilities are basic yet ensure comfort. Water is carted in and pumped up into the tank which feeds your hot water shower and ablution facilities. Cooking and refrigeration are powered with gas and lighting comes in the form of rechargeable lamps, paraffin lamps and candles. There is not much that beats sitting around the fire in the boma whilst the sound of nearby Lion and Jackal fill the night sky.

 

There are two lovely spacious bedrooms with wash basins in each. These are furnished with a double bed as well as a single bed in each room. The camp thus sleeps 6 people comfortably. A bathroom separates the two bedrooms and comprises a hot shower (powered by gas), a flush toilet and a basin with hot and cold water. Linen, bedding and towels are provided.

 

 

The thatched central facility comprises an insect proof open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area, leading out to a very neat open-air reed boma. The boma at night has a wonderful atmosphere, where you can sit and relax around the evening log fire whilst taking in the cry of the Jackal or the roar of the nearby Lion. Braai facilities are in the boma.

 

Our friendly camp staff will clean your rooms, make up your beds, clean the communal areas, light the fire and see to your general wellbeing. (No cooking)
